Hello, everyone! How are ya´ll doing? Can you believe we are closing out April? This year is going by way too fast…I need more hours in the day and for time to slow down!
Anyways, I am so excited to introduce you to our newest bag, the “Piñata” tote.
When I started designing handbags two years ago, this was one of the styles that I was most excited about, and it is even more special to me now because there was a lot of drama and growing pains behind this one.
Long story short, I approved a sample that was done in suede, but when the final product was sent to my warehouse (also known as my townhouse), the tassel that you see in the front (which is completely different than my original sketch) did not look remotely close to sample I approved. It looked awful! I hated having to send back all the bags, especially after sweating bullets unpacking them in late July of last year, but it had to be done.
It turns out the leather I had chosen for the bag was more durable than the supple suede used in the sample, and this meant that it was harder/impossible to create the tassel detailing I had originally planned for the enclosure. I went back to the drawing board with the design/production team in February to figure out my options for the enclosure, and we settled on the tassel you now see.
Even though I am not a mom, I designed this bag with mamas in mind. I just felt like there were no diaper/baby bags out there that were unique and functional. I knew I wanted lots of compartments for diapers, bottles, and the million other things that moms have to tote around. So in addition to multiple compartments, the lining is also waterproof (in case you have any spillage) and detachable so you can wipe it down OR wear the bag with no lining. Another thing I love about this bag, besides it being so functional, is that it also works great as a travel bag or a work bag.
I am really happy how it turned out, especially after months of waiting and re-doing, and I hope you love it as much as I do. The “Piñata” bag will be posted on our website next week, and if you are just dying to get your hands on it before then, contact me via email or social media (although, if I were you, I would wait because we might be having a 5 de Mayo flash sale!).
Have a good rest of the week, and thank you to all for following along!
